Safari Adventures
The coastal circuit is one of the most beautiful attractions in Tanzania. With a fantastic 800 km coastline of palm-fringed, pure white sand beaches, and the allure of the historic towns of Dar es Salaam, Bagamoyo, Kilwa, Lindi and Mikindani, the coastal circuit is a natural haven for incomparable sightseeing and activities. Also a historical coast, with a mixture of African and Arab cultures, it lies along the exotic islands of Zanzibar, Pemba and Mafia, and beholds remnants of the slave, gold, and ivory trades of the past. The region contains the Saadani and Mikumi National Parks and the Mafia Island Marine Park, all within easy access from Dar es Salaam.
Swahili language and culture can trace its roots to the Indian Ocean coastline. Many explorers and slave traders encountered Africa for the first time along this steeped border and many contributed to the events that were to define modern Tanzania. The islands of the Zanzibar archipelago became principle stepping stones for the culture that was to mold the Tanzanian people and their language.
