Mount Meru is an active stratovolcano located 70 kilometres (44 miles) west of Mount Kilimanjaro, and is the fifth highest mountain in Africa. As the topographic centerpiece of Arusha National Park, its fertile slopes rise above the surrounding savanna and has a forest that hosts diverse wildlife, including monkeys, leopards, and nearly 400 species of birds.

Day 1: Arrive at the airport and transfer to Arusha Resort Hotel for overnight accommodation and a hearty breakfast in the morning.

Day 2: After breakfast, transfer to Momella Gate (1400m) and start the climb up Mount Meru. Ascend for 3-4 hours through lower Montane Forest to Miriakamba Hut (2600m) for a scenic picnic lunch. Then take the afternoon to explore Meru Crater and view the historic ash cone. Dinner and overnight accommodation at Miriakamba Hut.

Day 3: Climb for 4-5 hours to Saddle Hut. In the afternoon, enjoy a hike up Little Meru (3820m). Full board at Saddle Hut.

Day 4: Leave at 0200 hours and ascend to the summit (4566m). Then return to Miriakamba Hut with full board accommodation.

Day 5: Descend to Momella Gate 1-2 hours. A driver will meet climbers for a short game drive and picnic lunch at Arusha National Park. Return to Arusha and depart in the afternoon.

Transfers, park entry fees, hut and other accommodation as specified, all government taxes and levies, guides/assistants/porters, a cook serving 3 meals/day, pick up and drop off at the airport.
