Fundu Lagoon
Lapped by the waters of the Indian Ocean and bathed in African sunshine, Fundu Lagoon is a remote and peaceful resort, only accessible by boat. Set on a beautiful beach in the south west of Pemba Island, it is privately owned and run with a love for the natural environment that surrounds it; the epitome of shabby chic - stylish, cosseting and totally relaxed.

Wooden walkways and sandy paths lead to sixteen Makuti thatched tented rooms and suites - all accommodation is spacious and private with breath-taking ocean views. Fundu Lagoon's main areas are open sided with thatch roofing. There are three bars, an excellent restaurant, a beautiful infinity pool and a calming spa.

The Manta Resort
Pemba has been separated from the mainland and Zanzibar for decades, leaving an untouched and pristine island of great beauty and fertility. The mosaic of forests, swamps, mangroves, hidden beaches and lagoons is scattered with the ruins of mosques and tombs mostly reclaimed by the forest - sites that date back to Arab domination when Pemba was seized by the Sultan of Muscat (Oman) in the 17th century. How can such a beautiful place be so devoid of visitors? On an island with a population of 300,000 there are rarely more than a couple of dozen foreigners. It is as though the people of Pemba have a secret that they refuse to share.

Six newly built luxury sea front villas are spacious and private, with a centred king size bed and large ensuite bathroom. A secluded sun terrace faces a spectacular ocean sunset. The resort is focused around a large open planned relaxing area that welcomes you to the sea. Life on Pemba revolves around the ocean tides, and as the day progresses you will witness the ever changing colours and shades of blue and green as the tide ebbs and flows.

Kervan Saray Beach
In the far north of Pemba, a new concept in adventure and hospitality has been created. After eight years of operating in Chake Chake, the capital of Pemba, Swahili Divers has moved its operation to an idyllic spot on the beach close to the village of Makangale. This resort is called "Kervan Saray Beach". Kervan Saray Beach is not a flight of fancy. It is a relocation of Pemba's most experienced and competent dive centre. Swahili Divers know the reefs like no one else. Famous for diving the whole of Pemba, we are a PADI 5* Gold Palm Resort.

Kervan Saray Beach is an unpretentious dive resort where non divers are made very welcome. Each room has a double bed and a single bed and an attached washroom. Our mattresses are imported from Kenya, our bed sheets and mosquito nets are the finest Indian cotton. Each room has a shower that provides lukewarm water that is solar heated using an African Village system. On cloudy days the water is cool. Our rooms are exceptionally simple, built using only local materials with thatched roofs.
